LEE COUNTY, Fla. – A Florida high school at the center of controversy this month has taken a step towards recovery, courtesy the school’s hockey team.
Less than two weeks after the Stoneman Douglas High School mass shooting in Parkland, the school's hockey team are now state hockey champions.
The 4th-seeded Eagles upset top-ranked East Lake in the semifinal, then beat Tampa Jesuit 7-4 to win it all at Germain Arena in Estero over the weekend.
A photo of the game was provided by Lightning High School Hockey, a group that helps organize hockey throughout the state.
