CAPE CORAL, Fla. — The holiday season means stores and malls will be filled with people trying to complete their gift lists for friends and loved-ones.

Unfortunately, there is often an influx of incidents involving shoplifting.

This week Lee County Sheriffs arrested four womenfor shoplifting over nine hundred dollars worth of merchandise at Miromar Outlets in Estero.

Many store owners say they are taking extra precautions during this time of year.

Breeza Zeller, manager of Pet-Kingdom in Fort Myers shares a couple of safety tips that her team abides by.

“We don’t allow people to bring in outside shopping bags. So say you’re in our store with a bag from Burlington..you can’t just stick a product in the bag and walk out with it, ” said Breeza Zeller.

She says that they have several safety cameras throughout the store, but they do not always protect against all shoplifters.

“Even though we are looking out it still happens from time to time, ” Breeza Zeller

Sheriffs say they are devoting additional resources to ensure the safety and security of its residents during the holiday season.
