COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. — David Cotrazal, 54, was arrested and charged with two counts of burglary and two counts of petit theft.

Police say he is responsible for recent break-ins at two businesses. On July 31 there was a burglary at La Oaxaquena Taqueria, as well as an Aug. 5 a burglary at Subway, 4830 Davis Blvd.

In each case, the suspect smashed a glass door to make entry and then used a pry bar to access and steal a cash drawer.

After completing an investigation, the police named Cotrazal as a suspect.

Police identified Cotrazal through surveillance images. Deputies obtained permission to search a shed where Cotrazal sometimes sleeps.

In the shed, they located clothing that matched what the suspect was wearing in each burglary, two cash drawers, and a pry bar. Cotrazal is a documented career criminal.

He was last released from a Florida prison in November of 2016 after serving 15 years for burglary and theft.

Deputies are investigating four similar burglaries in the same area.

They are waiting for DNA and other evidence to be processed to determine whether Cotrazal is responsible for those crimes.
