LEE COUNTY, Fla. — Authorities say a person was killed in a deputy-involved shooting in Lehigh Acres Friday.
Lee County deputies say they were alerted to a domestic violence incident Friday night. While involved in a domestic dispute, the suspect fired gunshots. When deputies responded, the suspect fled on foot into a nearby wooded area and fired more shots.
Deputies located the suspect and entered the wooded area to speak with him. The suspect fired shots at the deputies, who responded by firing shots at the suspect. The Lee County Sheriff's Office says the five deputies were placed on administrative leave.
Deputies say this is an active and ongoing investigation.
