A 16,000 acre wildfire continues to burn east of Naples.
The Greenway fire, which has been burning for almost a week, is just over 50% contained.
Smoke from the fire forced the highway patrol to close Tamiami Trail between San Marco Road and Six L Farms Road Tuesday.
Wind forced the fire south, firefighters were barely able to keep it from burning down a small Seminole Indian settlement.
"They had the helicopter about every 60 seconds dropping water, dropping water," said Isaac Schroth, who owns a wood carving shop at Tamiami Trail and San Marco Road.
He had most of his carvings loaded into a trailer just in case he had to evacuate.
More road closures are possible overnight if smoke conditions worsen.
