Tax payer dollars to go towards studying eroded beach sand in the Estero

LEE COUNTY, FLa. — Over $100,000 tax payer dollars will go towards studying eroded beach sand in the Estero bay inlets.

Lee County Commissioners approved a grant from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection to study.

How beach sand moves throughout the Big Carlos Pass, new pass, and Big Hickory Pass inlets.

The results will help with dredging and nourishing adjacent beaches.

DEP is providing over $400,000 for the study.

Lee County is using money from the beach renourishment trust fund. The study will begin in June.
