UPDATE --

Hospital confirmed the teen was discharged from the hospital.

Lee County Sheriff's Office says the drive will not face charges since there was no wrong doing.

A parent waiting at the bus stop with his daughter says they know the girl who was hit and were surprised since she is always cautious while walking to the bus stop.

"She always walks every morning. Every morning you see her, she has her phone on with the light because it's dark. We heard the boom but we didn't think it was someone who got hit," said Anthony Powell.

LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- Troopers say a 15-year-old girl is being treated for minor injuries at the hospital after being hit by a car before sunrise Monday.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, 15-year-old Marshy Cazeau was walking westbound along the shoulder of 8th Street SW around 6:25 a.m. As she approached Xelda Avenue South, a westbound car struck her.

Troopers say Cazeau was dressed in dark clothing at the time of the collision, which happened more than an hour before sunrise.

Cazeau was taken to Golisano Children's Hospital.

No charges have been filed yet, but the crash remains under investigation.

A Fox 4 crew in the area saw several students sitting in the roadway at another intersection along 8th Street SW on Monday morning.
