The City of Fort Myers to offer rent and utility assistance

FORT MYERS, Fla — The City of Fort Myers is offering rent and utility assistance for people living in the city.

Officials say the city now has funds available through the State of Florida's Coronavirus Relief Fund.

The money will is to help families who were impacted by COVID-19 and need rent and utility assistance.

Starting on September 1st, people who live in the city can apply through the City of Fort Myers Portal for Community Development.

To qualify, you must live in the City of Fort Myers municipal boundariesbefore September 1st, and show a loss of income unexpected financial crisis due to COVID-19.

Assistance is also limited to one-time per household, and aid cannot exceed $2,250.

If you don't have access to a computer, the Housing and Real Estate Division staff will enter the information for you.
