FORT MYER, Fla. — Tomorrow is the big day where city council will hear a proposal requesting that our City of Fort Myers be featured on the hit show C.O.P.S.

The hit series showcases how police departments fight crime, and Fort Myers Police Chief Derrick Diggs wants to do just that.

During tomorrows city council meeting, Chief Diggs is proposing that the city approve his request to allow the Fort Myers Police Department to be featured on the reality television show, for the fourth time.

One local resident says he thinks it will give people a closer look into Fort Myers.

“It’ll show what it actually is I’m not sure if that’s good or if that's bad but it’ll give more insight into what it actually is”, said Michael Carter.

Dylan Wetzel saying the City of Fort Myers is worthy of this opportunity.

“C.O.P.S coming to Fort Myers would definitely be the highlight that Fort Myers deserves. I think that it is a completely underrated area, that people deserve to pay more attention towards. I think that it’s not only a bad source of news but a good source too, any source of news is what Fort Myers needs”, said Wetzel.

This proposal for national exposure for the agency comes while the Fort Myers Police Department is still dealing with multiple issues brought fourth by internal investigations. Once a decision is made we will be sure to share it with you.
