SANIBEL, Fla. — VP Mike Pence and his wife, Karen, made their way onto the island of Sanibel in dramatic fashion with an army of cars escorted by police from several different local agencies.
Air Force 2 touched down at Southwest Florida international Airport around 4pm Friday afternoon.
Pence and his wife are spending the weekend on Sanibel Island, the island has been a regular destination for the couple for years.
Traffic was moving smoothly shortly after the motorcade rolled through but this weekend visitors to the island could be in for heavy traffic due to stoppages whenever Pence is out and about.
Fox 4 talked with a number of locals and visitors who were camped out on the Sanibel Causeway for 3 to 4 hours just to see Pence pass by.
The couple are expected to vacation on the island until Sunday.
