Imagine walking back to your car after a fun day at the beach to find your car windows smashed in and your property stolen. This was the reality for a group of beach goers in Fort Myers early Saturday afternoon.
One person sent photos to Fox 4 after the incident showing a red truck with the windows completely shattered. The group told Fox 4 that they went to their car and found that there was also a bag and a pair of glasses missing from the vehicle.
One person told Fox 4 that they weren't the only people who were targeted. Fox 4 also learned that the car was one of at least two other vehicles that was targeted on the beach.
When one beach goer, Angel Lamerique, learned about the incident he was shocked. "I've never heard of that in this area. It's the first time I've heard of that", he told Fox 4.
Fox 4 reached out to the Lee County Sheriff's Office but was unable to learn any more about the ongoing investigation.
In the meantime, Lamerique and other beach goers are outraged by what happened and shocked the popular spot isn't as safe as they originally thought.
"People should really think about their actions", he said. "I still can't believe this happened in a place as quiet as this one".
