CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla — The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office is reporting that threatening emails are being sent to Democratic voters.
CCSO says they have received complaints about voter intimidation through email allegedly from the Proud Boys.
The emails contain your names, address, and voter information CCSO says.
Investigators say the perpetrators claimed to have gained access into the entire voting infrastructure.
They say the email also demands Democrats to change their party affiliation over to Republican in order to let them know you received their message and will comply.
CCSO says in the body of the email is a link.
They remind you to never click on suspicious or unknown links and to delete the email once you get it.
If you have received this email, you are asked to call the Sheriff's Office and file a report at 941-639-0013.
CCSO says so far, this is a state-wide trend, and the FBI is investigating and attempting to threaten or intimidate voters in a federal election is a federal crime.
"We are committed to the safety of all voters within Charlotte County, ensuring each and every voter as a secure voting experience," Sheriff Bill Prummell says.
