GLADES COUNTY, Fla. -- A pickup truck carrying six people rolled over on U.S. 27 Sunday night, causing ejections and killing three people.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, it happened just before 11 p.m. about one mile north of the intersection with State Road 78.

Troopers say the F-350 truck was headed north on U.S. 27 when it left the roadway and began sliding sideways before hitting a street sign and overturning.

Five people were ejected from the truck.

Troopers say the driver of the truck, 24-year-old Charlie Ford, died in the crash. 25-year-old Dustin Chapman and 19-year-old Easton Moss also died at the scene.

Three other passengers, ages 20-25, were taken to Hendry Regional with minor injuries. All six are Moore Haven residents.

Alcohol results are pending further investigation.

A second fatal crash was reported nearby, a few hours later, in which a car crashed into the back of a truck that had stopped on U.S. 27.
