Three injured in wrong way crash on U.S. 27 in Hendry County

HENDRY COUNTY, Fla. -- Three people were taken to the hospital Thursday night following a head-on crash on U.S. 27.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, at 5:20 pm, a Ford SUV was driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of U.S. 27/S.R. 80 in Hendry County when it collided head-on with a westbound car.

The car's driver, 28-year-old Didier Reyes of Lehigh Acres, sustained minor injury and was taken to St. Mary's Hospital. His passenger, 51-year-old Elvin Hernandez, also had minor injury and was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital.

The car's driver, 70-year-old Robert Crissey of Homestead, was seriously injured and taken to Lee Memorial.

Reyes will be charged with no driver's license and driving on the wrong side of a divided highway.
