UPDATE (9AM) -- Florida Highway Patrol now reports a fatality in this crash.
They say that a car headed southbound on Camp Keais Road veered left across the safety zone and collided with a northbound car.
The 49-year-old female Ave Maria resident driving the first car was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Her name has not been released yet.
The driver of the northbound car, 74-year-old William Draper, Sr. of Ave Maria, was seriously injured and taken to Lee Memorial Hospital. His passenger, 80-year-old Martha Weiigel, sustained minor injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. -- Three people are seriously injured after a two vehicle head-on crash near Ave Maria, according to Collier County Sheriff's Office.
The crash happened just before 7 p.m. Sunday on Camp Keais Road, according to deputies. The extent of injuries is till unknown, but all three people meet Trauma Alert criteria.
Camp Keais Road is shutdown in both directions north of Pope John II Boulevard. Deputies are advising driver avoid Camp Keais Road until further notice.
