LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- A Lehigh Acres man was critically injured Monday when troopers say he ran a stop sign and was hit by another vehicle.

According to Florida HIghway Patrol, 26-year-old Yasiel Rodrigues-Medina was driving a car eastbound on East 9th Street in Lehigh Acres at 12:40 p.m. Monday.

Troopers say Rodrigues-Medina failed to stop at a stop sign at Richmond Avenue North and proceeded through the intersection, where his car was hit by a pickup truck headed southbound on Richmond Avenue.

The force of the crash caused the car to veer off the roadway and overturn.

Rodrigues-Medina was taken to Lee Memorial in Critical condition. The truck's driver sustained minor injury.

The crash remains under investigation.
