LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- A vehicle crash in North Fort Myers caused road blockage Wednesday morning in the northbound lanes of Tamiami Trail.

The crash happened at 7:30 a.m. at the intersection with Mariana Avenue.  That's just south of Pine Island Road.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, the driver of a Cadillac, 27-year-old Anastesia Stevenson of North Fort Myers, violated the right of way and pulled out from Mariana Avenue into the path of a dumpster truck headed north on Tamiami Trail.

The two vehicles collided.  The car spun around and ended up on an embankment, while the truck overturned onto the roadway.

Both drivers suffered minor injuries and were taken to Cape Coral Hospital.

All northbound lanes were blocked for several hours while clean-up crews removed debris, and traffic was being detoured around the crash.

Stevenson is charged with failure to yield right of way and driving without a license.

The roadway has since fully reopened.
