Driver injured after truck overturns into pond at I-75 on-ramp

UPDATE (10/8): We've learned that everybody is safe after a pickup truck was pulled from a retention pond off Interstate 75 Monday night in Fort Myers.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, 51-year-old Juan Jarquin of Fort Myers was going eastbound on Alico Road around 7:45 p.m. and entered the southbound on-ramp to I-75. Jarquin lost control of the truck and overturned into a pod next to the on-ramp.

Jarquin was able to exit the vehicle and was taken to the hospital with minor injuries by a passerby.

Crews later arrived at the pond to remove the vehicle.

Jarquin is charged with careless driving and no driver's license.

Fire and EMS are on the scene of a water rescue on Alico Road and Exit 128 South Bound on the ramp.

The rollover happened around 7:45PM.

The San Carlos Fire District believes a vehicle may have veered off the road into a lake.

FHP cannot confirm if there is anyone in the vehicle or not and no body or person has been located or rescued.
