CAPE CORAL, Fla. — Coronavirus cases across the county are on the rise.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, health experts like Dr. Fauci have emphasized the importance of social distancing to limit the virus's spread.

"If we have universal wearing of masks, physical distancing, avoiding congregate settings and crowds, and doing more things indoors versus outdoors and washing hands, we do not necessarily have to accept the inevitability of these major surges that we are seeing," Dr. Fauci says.

A new study published by Standford University cites that President Trump's large campaign rallies have led to over 30,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19.

This hasn't stopped many of his supporters from continuing to gather in support of the president.

Thousands came together in Cape Coral on Sunday for a 'Trump Truck Parade.'

Supporters cheered and waved flags as they paraded down Del Prado Blvd from the post office to Walmart afterward.

The sea of supporters met up at the Surfside shopping plaza to continue the celebration.

Many people were not social distancing or wearing masks.

FOX 4 asked the organizers of the event if they felt the rising coronavirus cases were a concern.

"We asked people to social distance the best that they can and wear masks if they please we are outside, so I don’t think it's a problem," Event Organizer Korry Taberner says.

The organizers explained the parade was designed to excite supporters in the community and encourage them to get out and vote on Tuesday.
