Vehicle found submerged in Bonita Springs

BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. — The Lee County Sheriffs Office responded to a call about a vehicle submerged in water in Bonita Springs.

Deputies responded to a call for service behind the 26900 block of McLaughlin Avenue in Bonita Springs.

Deputies discovered a dark-colored vehicle in the water.

The vehicle was a distance from the shoreline and almost completely submerged.

First responders located and removed a five-year-old male from inside of the vehicle.

Life-saving measures were performed, and the child was transported to a local hospital.

The child was declared deceased.

Further inspection of the submerged vehicle resulted in the location of a deceased 41-year-old female.

The investigation into this incident is active and ongoing.
