COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. – A Naples man was killed in a car crash in Collier County Monday night.
Florida Highway Patrol says 72-year-old Perry Switzen was killed in the wreck on Randall Boulevard in Orange Tree, and his wife had to be hospitalized.
FHP investigators say Switzen was eastbound on Randall Boulevard and had slowed to make a left turn into the Valencia community on Approach Boulevard.
The car behind him also slowed, but another car driven by 28-year-old Jorge Herrarte didn't slow down in time. Troopers say he swerved left into the westbound lanes and crashed into the left side of Switzen’s car as he turned left.
FHP says charges are pending.
