FORT MYERS — Fort Myers Police arrested two middle school students on their way home from school on Monday.
The bus driver called FMPD after a fight broke out, and when the officer arrived, he pulled out pepper spray. Cell phone video captured the whole incident. The video got a lot of attention on Facebook, because the woman who first posted it said the officer had pulled a gun, but we have since learned he was holding pepper spray in the video, and he never used it.
The woman who shared the video is the mother of one of the students who was arrested. She didn't want to do an interview with us, but other videos she shared with us show her son and another student getting handcuffed. Police said the teens who were arrested are each charged with disturbing the peace and obstruction of justice.
Police said the two students used profanity as well, and in the video, you can see one of them actually try to break out of her handcuffs.
