LEE COUNTY, Fla — The woman accused of misusing charity funds in honor of a child hit-and-run victim has bonded out of jail.
According to court documents, Randi Romanoff's bond was set at $65,000, and she has pleaded not guilty.
Investigators say a charity fund set up for 8-year-old Layla Aiken, who was hit and killed while waiting for a school bus in Cape Coral.
$72,000 was raised for the Lights for Layla Charity, a fund that was supposed to go towards installing streetlights and bus tips to help keep children safe.
Investigators say Romanoff spend some of the funds for her own gain.
She is expected to be back in court on December 15-20 for a pretrial conference.
