NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. — After getting her car stolen last October, Kortney Sible might get her driver’s license suspended because of it.

Sible reported her car missing at 6 a.m. on October 14, 2018 and the car ran through the LeeWay Midpoint Bridge toll around 1 p.m. that afternoon.

After receiving the toll violation letter from LeeWay, Sible tried to dispute it but LeeWay requires a police report in order to prove you were not the person responsible for the violation.

“They told me that they needed a police report and that’s when me and my other half talked to Detective Numan… and that’s when he said for us not to worry about it,” Sible said.

Lee County Sheriff’s Office refused comment for this story. Lee County officials representing LeeWay could not comment on this case specifically, but said people should bring a copy of the police report to LeeWay Customer Service in order to waive the responsibility of that toll violation.

“I don’t feel that my license should be suspended or my truck be reposed because someone stole my truck and ran a toll with it,” Sible said.
