LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- A woman who says a nurse sexually assaulted her in Cape Coral Hospital last year is now suing the hospital and its CEO.
The woman says that in July 2016, night nurse Jeovanni Hechavarria went inside her room and allegedly raped her.
The lawsuit names Lee Memorial Health System, its CEO Lawrence Antonucci, and Hachavarria. It claims that the hospital knew about sexual assault accusations against Hechavarria after a March 2015 incident but did nothing about it.
It was not until after that 2016 incident that he was fired from the hospital. Hechavarria was arrested last month and charged with Sexual Assault for the 2016 incident.
The woman is seeking damages due to mental main and suffering, diasability, and medical bills.
