COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. -- Troopers say a Marco Island man is dead after a single-vehicle motorcycle crash on Tamiami Trail.
Florida Highway Patrol says 56-year-old Patrick McAdam was riding westbound on Tamiami Trail in eastern Collier County around 1:45 PM Thursday. That's when he drifted off right side of the road during a curve to the left and crashed into the metal guard rail.
McAdam was thrown from the motorcycle and his helmeted head struck the guard rail. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash took place about a mile and a half east of San Marco Road, near Corey Billie's airboat ride business.
