Motorcyclist dies after crashing on interstate

LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- An investigation is underway after a deadly single-vehicle crash on Interstate 75 Sunday.

It happened around 2:30 pm near mile marker 121, in the northbound lanes shortly before Corkscrew Road.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, a 69-year-old man drove his motorcycle off the roadway and into the emergency lane, where the motorcycle overturned and the man was ejected.  He died at the scene.

He was not wearing a helmet at the time.

His identity has not yet been released.

Right now the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
