Motorcyclist killed in crash on I-75 at mile marker 69, incident under investigation

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. — UPDATE (8 PM) -- Florida Highway Patrol says a motorcyclist died in an accident involving three vehicles on I-75 Saturday afternoon.

Troopers say an SUV was traveling westbound on I-75, 11 miles east of State Road 29 in the right lane.

The motorcyclist was traveling in front of the SUV.

The third vehicle, a pickup truck, was traveling in front of the motorcycle.

The driver of the SUV failed to slow down and collided with the motorcycle.

Troopers say the rear of the pickup truck struck the SUV.

The Florida Highway Patrol had to close westbound traffic to conduct an investigation.

At this time, Troopers say all lanes of I-75 are back open, and the crash remains under investigation.

Florida Highway Patrol responded to a fatal accident on I-75 at mile marker 69 in Collier County Saturday afternoon.

At this time, westbound traffic will be diverted off Interstate 75 at the Exit 63 rest area and turned around to travel back east.

Troopers say I-75 eastbound lanes remain open.

The Florida Highway Patrol suggests these alternate routes:

-US-41 North to Naples, FL
-US-27 North to SR-80 West to Fort Myers, FL
