Mysterious death investigation at Fort Myers home

Posted

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Hours after crime scene investigators began combing through a Fort Myers home for a death investigation, no details have been released.

It happened at a home on LaBelle Avenue, right off of Palm Beach Boulevard, and not knowing what happened inside the home has many neighbors a bit restless.

As more crime scene tape went up, detectives and forensics teams carefully combed through the white and blue home on Labelle ave in Fort Myers.  At times, investigators focused their attention on a blue Hyundai parked outside.

"I'm surprised you know. It happened; something bad," said Abel Perez.

For the family across the street, this death investigation right outside of their home seemed surreal.  "I go, I come out to do my work and see a lot of police and I see the light and like, woah!" said Perez.

He says he didn't know the couple well, because they moved in about a month ago.   But says they appeared to be in their late 20's or 30's and described them as being quiet neighbors.  "I saw him on the weekend on Sunday. I was working on my truck and they came out with furniture," said Perez.

Detectives entered the home multiple times; in some instances using flashlights to examine a front room.

It's not yet clear who was found dead at the home or how many victims were found.

But the family across the street is hoping foul play isn't a factor.  "Because of my kids, you know," said Perez. "It's something bad you know. I'm still in shock."

Neighbors tell Fox 4 the death investigation began around noon Thursday afternoon.

If we do get any new details about the case we'll pass it along.
