A homicide investigation into the death of a 19-year-old Bonita Springs man has left those who knew him in utter shock.

"The last time I talked to him he seemed perfectly fine so it's just weird," said Michelle Ochoa, victim's friend.

Jordan Valero,19, was found gunned down in the 10000 block of Goodwin Street just before 2 a.m. Sunday.

"I'm like blown away that this happened right here," said John Paul Opteyndt. He lives a few homes away from where the shooting occurred.

Opteyndt told Fox 4 he woke up to a flurry of law enforcement presence.  "There were helicopters circling really tight circles overhead and there were like five cop cars up and down this street," said Opteyndt.

Lee County Sheriff's deputies haven't released the names of any suspects, but said in a statement the community is not at risk.

Opteyndt told Fox 4 he didn't realize what was happening until he saw Ochoa's Facebook status.  "I saw the statuses and I kind of knew what happened and I finally read one of the news articles and I saw the same name as the statuses I saw on Facebook," said Opteyndt.

Ochoa told Fox 4 she's known Valero since middle school. She says she spoke to Valero Saturday and nothing seemed out of the norm.

According to Ochoa, Valero's family is also clueless about why he was killed.  "His sister, she's as shocked as everyone else is. She has no clue what could've happened."

Lee County Sheriff's detectives were still on the scene Sunday afternoon. They are asking for the public's help to solve this crime. If you have any information, contact the LCSO (239) 477-1000.
