FORT MYERS, Fla. — Fort Myers Beach packed with many out enjoying the sunshine. Concerns about Coronavirus are not stopping beachgoers, or some local businesses, like the Lani Kai Island Beach Resort.

“We want to continue just offering them a fun place to be, great events, special concerts, and you know a place for them to come and have a fun time, wash their hands and enjoy the sunshine”, said Melissa Schneider, Marketing Director at the Lani Kai Island Beach Resort

They say they are taking precautions to help protect all guests and employees.

“We do make sure that we’ve got hand sanitizer around for people to use, antibacterial soaps in the bathrooms, deep cleaning the rooms, sanitizing everything”, said Schneider.

Precautions in an effort to minimize the spread of Coronavirus. Across the state schools have closed extending spring breaks causing many visitors to extend their stay in Florida.

One man saying, they are not afraid of Coronavirus.

“I mean I would still encourage people to obviously be mindful of it, you know use hand sanitizer and what not but i mean we still want to come here and have fun”, said Jack Brown.

A desire that's not stopping one group of guys either, who say they're disappointed by some of the event cancellations.

“Festivities should have continued to be held, but I understand their concern." Johnny Skorjaec

Despite a couple changes in plans, they're choosing to thrive on a little life experience.

“We live in a society with a lot of viruses, and we’ve lived and continued to live through them so I firmly believed that we should continue that way and live our life to the fullest” said Skorjaec

The Lani Kai did tell me, they want to ensure the safety of staff and guests, and if cases and concerns continue to grow, They will follow protocol enforced by the health and government officials.
