CAPE CORAL, Fla.-- Gubernatorial candidate Ron DeSantis and his running mate Jeannette Nunez both made an appearance in Cape Coral over the weekend.

With only 30 days left to vote, campaigns are kicking into over drive. While here, DeSantis talked about keeping Florida's economy strong.

"As Governor, I'll be able to protect Florida's economic momentum," DeSantis added, "If you look at what's happened over that last eight years, we went from having unemployment at almost 12% to now, 3.7%."

DeSantis also visited Sarasota, Naples, and West Palm Beach.

Democrat Andrew Gillum is running against DeSantis for governor. While DeSantis was in Cape Coral, Gillum spent part of the day touring the Saint Lucie River to get an up-close look at the water crisis.
