CLEVELAND – Kevin Durant received a rude welcome by a few Cleveland Cavaliers fans late Wednesday night outside a downtown hotel.
The Golden State Warriors' superstar forward was walking into the hotel when Cavs fans heckled him during his walk into the lobby.
TMZ Sports reported fans shouted “you suck” and “where LeBron at?” The next rib, “KD, U-T’s butt!” was in reference to Durant playing at the University of Texas.
Durant turned around and gave a glare toward a fan holding his phone. Someone walking with Durant blocked the fans' view and got him to turn around and ignore the fans.
Speaking to the media on Thursday afternoon, Durant called the heckling, "Pure ignorance."
The heckling may have been the only upsetting moment late Wednesday night for Durant, who scored a playoff-career high 43 points in a 110-102 win over the Cavs Wednesday night at Quicken Loans Arena.
Golden State holds a 3-0 series lead over the Cavs. Game 4 is Friday night in Cleveland.
Durant’s previous playoff career high was 41 points, which he has accomplished four times. Durant’s 33-foot 3-pointer with 49 seconds left gave the Warriors a six-point lead Wednesday night and likely dashed the hopes of a Cavs comeback in this series.
