McDonald's 'of the future' now serving unlimited fries

Posted

Will the McDonald's of the future include all-you-can-eat French fries? One McDonald's franchisee believes so.

Chris Habiger opened his reimagined McDonald's restaurant this week, dubbing his franchise the "McDonald's of the Future." At the McDonald's location in St. Joseph, Mo., customers can expect features such as automated ordering, digital games at the table and yes, unlimited fries.

Unlimited fries is an offer increasing in popularity at casual restaurants like Red Robin. The all-you-can-eat fry offer at Habiger's McDonald's is only available for a limited time.

“Unlimited fries are just the beginning of what’s different about (this restaurant),” Habiger told the News-Press Now. "We’re making a shift from fast food to fast-casual."

Despite having automated kiosks instead of traditional cashiers, the store employs more than 100 staffers.

Additional features include a dessert bar, where customers can make their own sundaes. Also, hamburgers have premium options such as guacamole and pico.
