A historic nor'easter blew through the east coast on Monday evening and into Tuesday, covering some of America's most iconic landmarks under a blanket of snow.

In Washington, DC, maintenance workers cleared snow away from pathways and roads in front of the White House. In New York, workers on Wall Street faced a treacherous commute into the stock exchange. And in Chicago, landmarks like the Cloud Gate took on new shapes under the fresh layer of powder.

Milwaukee, Green Bay, Cleveland, Buffalo, Baltimore, Boston and Philadelphia also received significant snowfall.
