Trump retweets unflattering photo of Cruz's wife

The war of tweets between Donald Trump and Ted Cruz continues this week as the race for the Republican presidential nomination focused on the candidates' wives.

Earlier Wednesday, Trump had promised to "spill the beans" about Heidi Cruz after he took offense to a commercial that brought up Melania Trump's past as model who posed nude for a British GQ article.

Both Ted and Heidi Cruz pointed out that the ad came from a super PAC and not from their campaign.

But Trump didn't seem to accept that explanation, re-tweeting a side-by-side photo of the two women Wednesday evening that used an unflattering version of Heidi Cruz.

"No need to 'spill the beans.' The images are worth a thousand words, the caption on the photo read. Trump also added his own caption to the photo, saying "A picture is worth a thousand words."

Cruz decided to take the high road, tweeting back, "Donald, real men don’t attack women. Your wife is lovely, and Heidi is the love of my life.”

UPDATE: While campaigning in Wisconsin Thursday, Cruz addressed the matter more forcefully, calling Trump a "sniveling coward," and to "leave Heidi alone."
