Nearly $20k in jewelry stolen in Ft. Myers

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help identifying two men who broke into a south Fort Myers home last week, taking off with nearly $20,000 in jewelry and cash.

According to Crime Stoppers, it happened at a home on Via Lago Way in the gated Club at Renaissance community off Daniels Parkway on December 23rd.

The victims tell authorities they left their home secured around 6:30 p.m. and returned home just before 9 p.m.  The next morning, one of the homeowners realized the back door to the home’s bathroom had been pried open and his wife’s jewelry was missing.

A review of surveillance video seen here showed that within 45 minutes of the couple’s departure, two men were spotted on video trying to pry open the bathroom door with a crow bar.  One suspect was able to open the door, handing off the crow bar to his partner while he entered the home.  The suspects quickly removed the jewelry and cash and left before the homeowners returned.

Anyone with information on the identities of these two suspects, and their current whereabouts, is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).   All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.  Tips may also be made online at www.swflcrimestoppers.org or by texting a tip to CRIMES (274637) Keyword: REWARD.
