New case of Zika discovered in Lee County

LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- Four in Your Corner is following a public health alert in Southwest Florida as the Florida Department of Health confirms a sixth Zika case in Lee County.

The FDOH announced Tuesday a total of 6 new travel-related cases of Zika in the state: One new case in Lee County, as well as two in Duval, one in Broward, one in Miami-Dade, and one in Seminole counties.

Overall there have been 6 total cases in Lee County, with three cases in Collier County, and a single case in Charlotte County.

252 Floridians in total have contracted the virus, including 43 pregnant woman.

But it's important to note that each of these patients contracted the virus while traveling overseas.
