NAPLES, Fla. -- A new company, Slidr, offers free rides in downtown Naples. The company launched last Wednesday after the city council approved the service back in December.
"Another alternative to getting around town that’s more efficient,” said CEO Mike Trombino.
Slidr only uses electric vehicles and drives on streets with a maximum speed of 35 mph. The company first started in Asheville, North Carolina but the CEO decided to bring the service to Naples after noticing a need in the area.
“I think we’ve had over 100 rides in the last few days without anyone really knowing about it,” said Trombino.
Similar to UBER you can request a ride through an app or by calling a phone number. And as the slogan says it gets you from "A to B for free." Slidr drivers make their money off tips, so even though it's free, the company asks you to be kind to your driver.
Slidr is available every day 11am to 11pm. You can request a ride by calling 239-227-9042.
