North Fort Myers man critically injured in motorcycle crash

CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- A single-vehicle motorcycle crash in Cape Coral Thursday night resulted in the driver being taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

It happened at 10:42 p.m. on Hancock Bridge Parkway near SE 1st Place.

According to Cape Coral Police, 58-year-old David Adair of North Fort Myers was riding east on Hancock Bridge Parkway when his motorcycle drifted left and hit the median curb.  Adair was ejected from the bike and came to rest on the shoulder of the road.

Adair was trauma alerted to the hospital with severe head and neck injuries.

Police say Adair was wearing a "half shell" helmet at the time of the crash, but the helmet is not DOT approved.

The crash is considered alcohol/drug related.

Both directions of Hancock Bridge Parkway were shut down for a while during the investigation.
