One dead in Fort Myers shooting Wednesday

FORT MYERS, Fla. --A shooting Wednesday has left a teenager dead at the Lexington Palms apartments near The Forum in Fort Myers.

Police say 17-year-old Irving Edwards was shot and killed around 2 AM Wednesday morning. However, police say they didn't find out about it until later on in the afternoon.

One man who lives in the complex says he saw family members of the victim visibly upset after the shooting. "This one kid was crying, and crying,  I  guess it was a family member, then the other family members came over and started all crying."

Thursday, Fort Myers Police announced two arrests in connection to the shooting.  20-year-old Jhshod Thornton has been charged with Manslaughter in the case, and 18-year-old Jonas Jackson is facing a charge of Tampering with Physical Evidence.

FMPD and FDLE are investigating the case.
