LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- A deadly crash in Lehigh Acres early Sunday took the life of a 50-year-old Bradenton man and injured three others.
Florida Highway Patrol officials say two pickup trucks were heading in opposite directions on State Road 82 near Rue Labeau Circle around 1 a.m. Sunday when one truck crossed over the center line and crashed into the other.
One of the passengers, 50-year-old John Leary of Bradenton, died at the scene. Two other Bradenton residents in the truck, 16-year-old Ciara Leary and 19-year-old Austin Shinkle, were seriously injured and taken to Lee Memorial Hospital.
The driver of the other truck, 24-year-old Nathaniel Poore of Lehigh Acres, was also seriously injured and taken to Lee Memorial. Troopers say he was the driver of the truck that caused the crash.
The investigation is on-going and charges are pending.
