CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. -- Two Port Charlotte residents are under arrest after trying to unsuccessfully ditch their drugs.

According to the The Lee County Sheriff's Office, units were patrolling I-75 when they noticed a Toyota Camry abruptly get off at the Bayshore Road exit ramp. That's when deputies saw a black bag being thrown out of the car.

The Camry was stopped for littering, but inside the bag, detectives discovered more than 2,000 highly addictive opium-based pills, worth approximately $50,000.

Both people in the car were arrested and charged with trafficking in opium, possession of marijuana, and tampering with evidence.  They are 23-year-old Paige Bayshaw and 27-year-old Vladimir Morrobel.
