NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. --  A fatal crash in North Fort Myers Thursday left a pedestrian dead and a motorcyclist in critical condition.

It happened just before 7pm at the intersection of North Tamiami Trail and Cabana Avenue. That is near the Price Cutter Furniture store south of Pondella Road.

Florida Highway Patrol says the motorcycle was driving north on Tamiami Trail when 55-year-old Luke Galasso walked in front of the motorcycle and was hit. Galasso died at the scene.

The driver, 47-year-old Emilio Arteaga of Cape Coral, was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital in critical condition.  FHP says he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
