Pedestrian hit twice in Bonita Springs, both vehicles flee

LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- Lee County deputies are searching for two vehicles that fled the scene of a hit and run without stopping to render aid to the seriously injured pedestrian.

The collisions occurred just before 9:30 p.m. Tuesday on Bonita Beach Road at Old US 41, according to the Lee County Sheriff's Office.

Witnesses told deputies that the pedestrian was crossing Bonita Beach Road and was not in a crosswalk when he was struck by a white 4 door Sedan.  The impact knocked the pedestrian to the ground causing serious injury. 

After falling to the ground, the victim was struck by a second vehicle, a dark colored SUV possibly a newer model Jeep that was also traveling east bound on Bonita Beach Road.  Both the Sedan and SUV fled the scene without leaving information or rendering aid.

The victim was transported to the hospital, where he was treated for serious injuries that are not believed to be life threatening.

Neither the sedan nor the SUV have been located.  Witnesses to the crash state that both vehicles should have damage to their front ends and have blood on them. They were last seen fleeing the scene east bound on Bonita Beach Road.
