FORT MYERS, Fla. -- A Fort Myers pedestrian died Monday night after being hit by a car.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, it happened at 9:39 PM on Laredo Avenue just east of Ortiz Avenue.
Troopers say 23-year-old Rakeem Bailem was walking west on the roadway of Laredo approaching Heiman Avenue when a westbound car struck him.
Bailem was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital, where he died from his injuries.
The driver of the car, a 17-year-old male, was not injured. Charges are pending.
