CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- In an update to a story we brought you Tuesday night, police say a Cape Coral shooting incident came after a confrontation on the road.

According to Cape Coral Police, the shooting happened in the 1300 block of NE 1st Terrace, around 4pm Tuesday.  That's in a neighborhood near the intersection of Del Prado Boulevard and Hancock Bridge Parkway.

An investigation revealed that the victim got into a confrontation with a person in another vehicle, and that suspect fired a weapon.  The victim was struck and suffered non-life threatening injuries.

"You just don't think it'll happen in your own backyard and it does, "said Megan Witsche, who was home playing with her children when she heard the gunshots Tuesday afternoon.

"I just didn't think it was gunshots because you never think about something like that here," said Witsche

According to the incident report it was gunshots she heard. A witness told Cape Coral investigators six shots were heard coming from an SUV into a black Lexus with three people inside. 18 year--old Luis Martin was riding in the backseat of the Lexus when a bullet struck his right hand.

Martin told Fox 4 the driver of the SUV was tailing them when suddenly things turned violent. When asked why the SUV was tailing them, Martin did not respond.

The suspect vehicle was described as a small brown or gold colored SUV that was last seen driving southbound on NE 13th Place.

The investigation is still under way.
