COLLIER COUNTY -- Naples police are investigating a shooting in the River Park neighborhood Friday afternoon.
The victim was shot in the armpit and later died in the hospital. It happened in the 500 block of 14th Street North.
"We do not believe the suspects are on scene or in the area, we believe the suspects are out of the area," said Naples Police Lt.Seth Finman.
Hours later, heavily armed officers swarmed a home near the scene and towed a vehicle from a house one street over, but it's not clear if those searches were related to the scene.
"This has never happened before, ever and I've been here all my life, and no one has ever been killed here, this is a peaceful, peaceful neighborhood," said resident Darrell Hills.
Police have not released the victim's identity. No word on a motive or of a possible suspect.
