The Democrats are taking the first steps that could lead to virtual voting at their presidential convention.

A party committee decided to allow convention planners to look into alternative voting methods.

Party leaders say no final decisions are being made yet about how the convention will be held.

In 2019 the DNC voted no against virtual caucusing for 2020.

The event is set for August in Milwaukee.

The event could still take place in person.

Republicans say the plans for their convention in North Carolina, are still being worked on.

They will re-evaluate those plans before the late August event.
