NAPLES, Fla -- On Monday, multiple organizations are teaming up to complete a 30-unit artificial mini reef installation in Collier County.

The first installation is set for 9:30 a.m. at LaPlaya Beach & Golf Resort. Ocean Habitats, along with The Eco Preservation Project, will install units there.

A Naples-based clothing company called StepChange helped make these installations possible. StepChange makes clothing from recycled water bottles, and proceeds go toward Ocean Habitats reef installations.

More than a dozen reefs will be installed throughout Collier County to wrap up this latest installation.

Ocean Habitats also announced an even bigger effort to Protect Paradise on Monday.

The group announced the start of its second 1,000 mini reef challenge for Collier County. The goal is to put that many mini reefs in the water by the end of the year to clean tens of millions of gallons of water, and produce hundreds of thousands of fish.
